I live in Yellow Springs, about 10 miles south of Springfield. It’s a wonderful and eclectic community known for its diversity of lifestyles, Antioch College, and sense of community activism. It’s a great place to raise children. Mills Lawn School, the K-6 school in Yellow Springs, was chosen as a National School of Excellence.
Among the many great things about this school are the special projects that are frequently undertaken. A few years ago the entire school put on the a production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and in the Spring of 2001 Becky Brunsman (one of the kindergarten teachers) wrote and directed a musical for the whole school, "Back to the 50s." To go see many images of this musical (some of which I took) and to view some video clips see: Lost in the Fifties. What a trip!! You can see about 2 seconds of Whitney in the chorus line of "Blue Suede Shoes."
Also in the Spring of 2001 the sixth grader conducted their annual Invention Convention. You can see Whitney on the front page of this link sitting in her "Relax-o-Chair!"
I have annually conducted a week-long workshop with the Sixth Grade at Mills
Lawn titled
"Mills
Lawn: CSI" where the entire class solves a crime.
