The Most Advanced Workshop 1997

Presented By Phil Roberts at the Round Lake Bible Bowl Tournamnet 1997. A Lesson we all need to learn over and over again.

(Disclaimer: These are my notes and do not necessarily reflect the intent of the workshop or the workshop leader. In other words, I probably don't know what I'm talking (writing) about.)

Who in the world are you?

-- I missed this part. I couldn't find my pencil. Sorry teacher.

(Top four reasons) Why do you play Bible bowl?

What are realistic goals in Bible bowl personally?

Know your limitations. Will Rogers once said "Everyone is ignorant, they are just ignorant on different subjects." If you look hard enough you will always find someone better or someone worse that you. And while good and poor players will emerge from the game, the real winners are the those that daily improve in their understanding of God's word. Compete against yourself not against others.

What are realistic goals for your team?

There is nothing wrong with wanting to be the best. Set your goals as high as you wish. Be a positive encourager to your team mates. Just remember, if you set your sites on earthy treasures then earthly treasures is all you will get. Don't lose site of the real reason for the game - Jesus. Be humble in victory as well as defeat.

How should I study?

Be dedicated. Achievement at anything does not come easy. Learn the text. Find the obvious truth of the text. Associate the keywords to the text. Memorize key verses and list. Learn the same text with a buddy. Two heads really are better than one. Two can encourage each other. And if one 'head' is absence the other 'head' has the knowledge to play the game.

How can we win more games?

Get outside yourself. Encourage others. Complement good play (by both good and poor players). Study what you least like to study - it is probability one of your weaknesses. Practice! practice!! PRACTICE!!! Put yourself in game situations.
